Systematic literature search In-Person
Being able to conduct a literature search methodologically and transparently is key in a research process. This course introduces participant to systematic literature search and makes the participants familiar with basic and advanced search techniques. Furthermore, the participants will learn how to structure an advanced search, become familiar with some of the library’s databases and how to conduct citation searches.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of the course, it is expected that participants will be able to:
• Understand the importance of literature search within PPL
• Use the most common search techniques
• Conduct a block search
• Conduct an analysis by means of the databases’ built-in analysis-tools
• Set up a search alert
• Conduct different citation searches
• Formulate a search log
Target group
Researchers and PhD students. Max 12 participants.
Form and duration
3 hours workshop with a mix of presentations and hands-on exercises. As part of the exercises, participants are free to use their own material. Expect 3 hours preparation and 8 hours work if you wish to do the follow-up exercise.
ECTS
1/2 ECTS. In order to pass the course the participant must undertake all the expected preparations, engage actively and constructively during the course, and pass the written assignment.
Teaching language
By default, the workshop is in English. However, it can be held in Danish if so wished by all participants. Group work can be in both English and Danish.
