Build your personal library with Zotero In-Person

Zotero allows you to build a personal library, from which you can easily make citations and generate bibliographies. Zotero facilitates sharing and annotation of texts in a research group and can be used as a collaborative tool.

When you use reference management software for making citations you can generate or update a bibliography with just a few clicks, as well as change the citation format.

Getting started with Zotero is easy and the workshop will introduce you to the user interface and the most common functions including different ways of creating references in Zotero.

Zotero is not only a handy tool when writing up research, but can be used in making presentations for lectures and conferences, as it can automatically add references to quotes on slides in Powerpoint.

We are aware that many RUC researchers use Mendeley, which the library used to give courses in. However, it is easy to transfer a library from Mendeley to Zotero and we are happy to assist with the transfer.

Zotero is open source, and the free version has a storage limit of 300MB. When signing up as a user, you can use any email-address. This makes it easy for you to bring your library with you regardless of institutional affiliation.

Can you use Zotero as part of your workflow?
Zotero is compatible with these platforms:
•    Safari, Edge, Firefox, Chrome
•    Word, Google Docs, Scrivener, Overleaf, BibTex/Latex
•    Windows, IOS, Android, Linux

As Zotero is open source you can install a long list of plugins and add-ons.

The workshop focuses on Zotero for Windows.
